This song was written and recorded by the Dutch brothers Rob and Ferdi Bolland in 1981. Five years later, the British rock band Status Quo covered it as the title track of their 1986 album. Despite being completely different to Quo’s usual 12-bar boogie format, it was released as a single. This is not about the song but, this is about the influence it had on me during my colleage days. I heard this very late in my teens but, was inspired in pursuit to join the unifrmed forces, which I did not make it  to.

I last few weeks the talk of the war with our neighbour has manifested quite a lot with media, social media going overboard and adding to this is the GOI' sannouncement to do the Mock Drill of the war in the coutry after 1971, where we have grown in size and shape.

This Civil Citizen Defence Infrastructure for the wartime has not been a focus area in the last three and half decades, we were rightly focussed on developments and other priorities in line with the peace loving nation, we are are.

We have also been adjudged as the most tolarent nation when comes the matter of terrorism and attacks from non state actors, when comes to any kinetic action.

This is the first time, we are taking this bold step in the theatrics to show the might of the most populus nation on earth by showing the preaparedness to war, for sure making the statement and sending the waves of drill, which will shake the neighbours.

As I read barrage of foirwards and debates on the why and why not of the mock drill, I see a gap on the foot soildeirs who will manage the "Rear" when the frontline is busy at the war, are we prepared, have identified the set of talent pool to call for nations duty?

If the statistics are to go by, the number of NCC, NSS , Bharat Scout and Guide personnel is down, as most private schools do not offer this as a choice, they are busy preparing students of JEE & NEET.

To, check the interest levels across many sport hobby groups, I posted a poll seeking views in the hour of need can the GOI, call for following hobbyist to support the nation run the civil location smoothly, the response was not encouraging.

THe following are the groups, where access to their information is readily availbale and the reasonable amount of physical preparedness can be established.

1. The running community across the country with almost 100 plus races happening across the country we have timed data and distance to arrive at the endurance levels

2. The large cricket playing talent across different leagues

3. The GYM subscribers and their attendance

4. The sports personell across various sports and cadres

5. The homeland private security force

6. The pool of vetrans and retired uniformed personnel

7. The Admin professionals across the corporates

The time has come to introduce conscription or military draft, while Agniveer is one such attempt, but that needs further simplification and scale. Territorial Army was meant to be that but the same needs a revamp, with shorter duration stints, which primarily gives the personnel the basic training for meeting such exegencies in a hyper senistive geo-political landscape.

If the above is a long short, there needs to be a online certification course which ensures that any individual can plug his / her details which can be verified through APIs to confirm the credentials, then they go through the course and get certified.
